ruler for the parallel stop

A scale for a parallel stop is something I’ve planned for a while now. Almost a year ago I bought this steel ruler for this purpose. But I was never really sure how to mount it. It’s got to be adjustable for sure. Today I found myself standing in front of a pile of 10mm neodymium magnets. For a second I thought about using them to hold the ruler in place, but then I thought never mind, they don’t work with the stainless steel of the ruler anyway. But, luckily the ruler was even worse quality then I thought it would be. The magnets are working perfectly fine with it.

I made a small slot with the router and drilled five holes. In there I clued in the magnets with some epoxy.

Looks promising for now. I’m curious how it will work on the long term.
