protective vice jaws the cheap way

For a couple of years now I’ve  used two old pieces of aluminum extrudes as  protective vice jaws for the parallel vice.
I was never getting the point to spend money for some commercial ones, as long as a piece of junk does a decent job. But at one point I was getting a bit tired of picking them up from the floor, when they have fallen down. Which happened more or less often. So I thought about tuning them a bit with two magnets for each jaw. I used round ten by two millimeter magnets and glued them in with epoxy. I’m quite curious how long they will last. For now they are working fine for two or three weeks.

A nice side effect is, that it also holds little metal things, so they woun’t get lost.
